TMZ received the following information from the New Jersey State Police at 5:45 AM PT: “Troopers responded to a motor vehicle crash at 8:19 PM on County Route 551 North, milepost 11.1 Oldmans Township, Salem County.” According to the findings of an initial inquiry, two pedalcyclists, John M. Gaudreau, who was 31 years old and from Carneys Point, New Jersey, and Matthew R. Gaudreau, who was 29 years old and from Pedricktown, New Jersey, were heading north on County Route 551 in close proximity to the fog line of the highway. In the direction of northbound traffic on CR 551, Sean M. Higgins, a 43-year-old man from Woodstown, New Jersey, was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was behind a sedan and an SUV.

Higgins made an attempt to pass the slower-moving sedan and SUV, then entered the southbound lanes of travel, passed the slower-moving sedan, and then attempted to re-enter the northbound lanes of travel. However, the SUV in front of Higgins moved to the middle of the roadway, dividing the north and south lanes, in order to safely pass the two pedalcyclists who were traveling north on the right side of the roadway. Afterwards, Higgins made an effort to overtake the SUV on the right, and when he did so, he collided with the two pedalcyclists behind. As a consequence of the incident, both of the pedalcyclists had injuries that ultimately proved to be de.adly.

Following the conclusion of the inquiry, they came to the following conclusion: “Higgins was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol, charged with two counts of loss by automobile, and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility.” At this time, the investigation into this collision is still ongoing, and there is no other information available.
