Scott Thorson, who wrote his book “Behind the Candelabra” in 1988, barely one year after the loss of the famous musician Liberace, has passed away. In the memoir, Thorson revealed his romantic relationship with Liberace.
The 16th of August was the day when Thorson passed away; he had been a patient at a healthcare center in Los Angeles, where he had been battling cancer as well as a heart ailment.
At the age of 18, Thorson was employed by Liberace to serve as his personal friend and companion. At the time, the legend was 57 years old. This marked the beginning of their five-year relationship.
The case that Thorson brought against Liberace for $113 million was the first same-sex palimony claim ever filed in the United States. Thorson was dismissed from his position in 1982, and he then went on to sue Liberace for the same amount.

On the other hand, Liberace continued to deny that he was gay, and in the end, they reached a settlement outside of court. On the following year, in 1987, Liberace passed away as a result of problems associated to HIV/AIDS.
The book written by Thorson was published the following year, and it was eventually adapted into a film with the same name that was produced by HBO in 2013. The film was directed by Steven Soderbergh and starred Matt Damon as Thorson and Michael Douglas as Liberace.
In addition to his time spent with Liberace, Thorson was also well-known for his role as a critical witness in the Wonderland Massacre trial that took place in 1981.
