Meeka, Jenna Dewan’s puppy, is the “first baby” that she is grieving the loss of.
On Wednesday, May 29, the actress, who was 43 years old at the time, posted a farewell post that was devoted to Meeka, who passed away on May 28 at the age of 18. The post included a number of photographs of the actress with the dog throughout the years, as well as photographs of Meeka with her children, daughter Everly Tatum, who was 10 years old, and son Callum Kazee, who was 4 years old.
In addition, the Rookie actress sent a heartfelt note to the dog, in which she said that she and the deceased dog “had more eras than” together than Taylor Swift.
Dewan stated, “Yesterday I had to say one of the hardest goodbyes as my first baby, Meeka, crossed over the rainbow bridge.” Meeka was Dewan’s first biological child. “Even though I was aware that this day would arrive, it is still a very bizarre experience for me to be writing this. We have been through more periods than TS, Meeka, both you and I.
“You showed me that I could become a mother, and then you were by my side as I became a mother for the first time with Evie,” she said. “It was 18 years (!) of going through literally everything with me by my side.” And you have never even shown any interest in children.
She proceeded by saying, “You have accompanied me to locations all over the world, and you have also sat by my side during a global pandemic quarantine postpartum with Callum.” “I will never be able to adequately convey how much I will miss you. You were the queen diva, quietly dominating the home, and I will never be able to do so. You were the most wonderful present, and I am thankful that I can still feel you right here with me.
Furthermore, Dewan divulged information on the dying moments of the canine companion, stating that Meeka provided her with “the most peaceful crossing over we will never forget.”
Despite the fact that you were in your last moments, she stated, “Somehow, you knew what I needed.” “Even though it breaks my heart to lose you in the physical world, I know that you will always be around and watching over all of us, especially as you usher in this new soul,” she said. “I love you so much.”
This will be the second kid for the pair, and it will be Dewan’s third child overall. The actress is now expecting a child with her fiance, Steve Kazee. With her ex-boyfriend Channing Tatum, she shares Everly.
Not only will Dewan and Kazee’s kid join Everly and Callum, but it will also be joining the couple’s most recent addition, Wylie, a rescue dog that Kazee gave to the actress in 2021.
In December of 2021, the Step Up actress made the announcement that she and Kazee had adopted the puppy on Instagram. She said, “He is the perfect fur baby birthday gift from @stevekazee and the best holiday gift for our family.”
A number of months after the couple had said their last goodbyes to a different puppy, the couple’s former dog Violet Mae, who had passed away unexpectedly in July 2021, the pair received the news that Wylie had been adopted.
The message that Kazee made at the time expressed his gratitude to Wylie “for helping to heal our broken hearts.”
