Susan Lucci is perhaps one of the most well-known actors working on daytime television today. During the four decades that “All My Children” was on the air, she played the role of Erica Kane. Many people see Lucci and her role as an icon in the annals of the history of television. She is considered as the leading woman of daytime television by publications such as The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, and even TV Guide, which placed her as the “highest-paid actor on daytime television.”

She has already had 21 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her performance as Erica Kane in “All My Children,” but she has only managed to win the award once, and that was after her 19th nomination.

In the past, she has also appeared in various television programs, including appearing in many episodes of shows such as “Hot in Cleveland,” “Army Wives,” and “Dallas.” In addition, she was the presenter of “Deadly Affairs,” and she played Genevieve Delatour on “Devious Maids.”

After the passing of her spouse, Helmut Huber, Luci became a widow. After a long career in television production and as Lucci’s manager, Huber passed away in March 2022 at the age of 84. Nearly 53 years passed during their marriage. Lucci was his wife. The union between Lucci and Huber was fruitful, resulting in the birth of two children: Liza and Andreas. Huber made the decision to leave the restaurant industry as her career began to take off and become her manager instead. In addition to establishing themselves as one of the most successful show business couples in New York, the pair founded a production company.

Since the passing of her spouse, Lucci has been keeping herself occupied by engaging in charity activities that are both metaphorically and practically dear to her heart. Lucci has also shown to her followers that she has aged gracefully via the posting of photographs from her vacations on her various social media sites. This has led some of her followers to inquire as to whether or not she is still grieving the loss of her spouse.

In October of 2018, Lucci was rushed to the hospital for an unexpected cardiac procedure.

According to what she said to People Magazine, “it felt like an elephant pressing down on my chest.” “Until I asked to go home and come back the next day for the procedure, I didn’t realize how serious it was until my doctor told me, ‘You’re not leaving.'” You never know when a heart attack can strike you.

Despite the fact that Lucci is a fitness expert and a passionate proponent of a healthy diet, her family has a history of cardiovascular disease, which is why she ended up going through the agony. Lucci was taken aback when she learned that she had an underlying cardiac issue since she has been so conscientious about her health, doing pilates on a regular basis and adhering to a diet based on the Mediterranean.

It turned out that when the physicians examined her heart, they discovered that she had a 90% blockage in the major artery leading to her heart, which led to the placement of two stents in the organ that pumps blood throughout the body.

Lucci admitted to People Magazine, “I didn’t realize how close I came to a fatal heart attack,” before admitting that her issue was really inherited genetically from her father’s side of the family. “I didn’t realize how close I came to a fatal heart attack,” Lucci said.

Since then, Lucci has grown more conscientious about her health status; yet, in January 2023, when she felt short of breath and suffered chest and jaw discomfort, she was reluctant to contact the doctor once again.

“I was in complete disbelief. She went on to say, “I reverted back to all of those things after telling women for three years not to be afraid to call the doctor and to put themselves on their to-do list.”

At this point, eighty percent of her arteries were clogged due to the excessive consumption of cholesterol that she had throughout the epidemic.

“I was so embarrassed by what I had done that I was considering not talking about it at all. But it should serve as a reminder to be alert,” she said.

Lucci has sadly had to go through the process of grieving in addition to overcoming the challenges presented by her health concerns. People Magazine published an article in March 2022 stating that her husband, Huber, had passed away at the age of 84. Jessica Sciacchitano, who serves as Lucci’s spokeswoman, issued the following statement on her client’s behalf:

“The departure of Helmut is a terrible tragedy for all those who were fortunate enough to have known and loved him. He was a remarkable friend, spouse, parent, and grandpa all at the same time. During this very trying time, the family would appreciate your respect for their need for privacy.

In February of 2023, Lucci expressed her sadness about the loss of her spouse to FOX 5 New York, stating that he had been “the love of my life.”

Despite this, Lucci has not stopped living her life to the absolute maximum. Lucci seemed to be as young and full of vitality as ever in an Instagram image that she published on February 8, 2023. In the post, she smiled while wearing a beige cardigan and her blonde hair was loosely flowing.

She captioned the photo of herself on Instagram with the following: “Day of running errands—and meeting a friend for coffee—wearing my silver and gold “empower you heart” necklace by @tiary.”

Notably, Lucci wore a necklace made by Tiary that was part of their “Empower Your Heart” jewelry line, which was designed in conjunction with the American Heart Association (AHA).

According to Tiary, the sterling silver heart necklace that Lucci was wearing was a part of the American Heart Association’s Life Is Why Campaign to promote awareness for the importance of heart health. Until the end of the year 2023, 25% of the revenues from the sale of the pendant would go directly to the American Heart Association Life is Why Campaign.

“The heart-themed pendants are reminders for women to listen to their bodies,” said Lucci, who designed the jewelry.

The actress was also a proponent of teaching people how to do cardiopulmonary resuscitation, generally known as CPR. This is a procedure that has been shown to be beneficial in many different types of crises, such as a heart attack, in which a person’s breathing or pulse stops.

On Today, as she struggled with sadness and anguish, she was asked how she had been coping with the death of Huber and how she had been feeling about it.

“Well, coping and dealing are the appropriate words because it’s an awful situation,” she said. He was outstanding…”He was the love of my life, and he uhm—he was spectacular and uh, so, coping and dealing, that’s what you do, that’s what you do, you put one foot in front of the other.”

Lucci responded with the following statement to Fox 5 New York when they asked her whether she is ready to give someone else access to her heart again: “No, I’m not ready. It has just been 10 months. And furthermore, it doesn’t matter what hour it is; I’m not prepared…Simply put, I long for him…

Traveling became a therapeutic outlet for Lucci as she struggled to come to terms with the death of her spouse. According to the images she made on Instagram and other social media platforms, she recently traveled to Italy, where she seemed to take pleasure in the beautiful scenery. On October 8, 2023, Lucci published on her website a picture of herself wearing a brightly colored summer outfit.

A lot of people wrote to Lucci to compliment her on her “fabulous” radiance and her pleasure. Another person said that they thought her clothing was “flattering.” However, many people found fault with the fact that she seemed to be traveling a lot rather than genuinely mourning the loss of her spouse.

A user remarked that “…since Helmut died, she’s all over the world enjoying herself really never saw a mourning period.” The actress received support from a lot of people, who said things like, “Perhaps she kept her grieving private? She is moving on with her life, just as we all must when we lose someone we love.

“both she and her husband did a significant amount of traveling all over the globe. Someone claimed that he would have wanted her to go on enjoying her life after he passed away.

“Have you ever stopped to consider how challenging it must be for her to go out there all by herself? About how many times she’s probably put herself to sleep by crying herself to sleep? Someone another said, “Have some compassion.”
