A mistaken phone number led to the development of an almost two decades-long relationship between two individuals who spoke to one another exclusively by telephone. It has been determined that the two people in issue are Gladys Hankerson and Mike Moffitt.

Gladys Hankerson, a native Floridian, was making an effort to get in touch with her sister who lives in Maryland. She called 401 instead of 410 when she needed to make the call. Mike Moffitt answered the call in Rhode Island where he was located.

After hearing a voice that was not that of her sister, Hankerson realized that she had phoned the incorrect number. It just so happened that this occurred a couple more times. Moffitt claims that his father taught him to answer the phone at all times since you never know who could be trying to get in touch with you.

After waiting one day, Moffitt eventually asked who she was and why she was calling, and then Hankerson abruptly ended the conversation. The beginning of their lasting relationship began with this conversation.

Hankerson’s life was particularly difficult at the time since she had just gone through a divorce and her son had died unexpectedly. Moffitt became one of her closest friends and was a tremendous source of inspiration for her.

During the weekend before Thanksgiving, Hankerson was taken aback when she answered her front door. After spending some time in Florida with his family, Moffitt traveled to Hankerson’s house to catch up with him.

When they were eventually able to see one other again, it was a happy day for both of them. Hankerson claims that this Thanksgiving was the nicest one he has ever experienced. She had the deepest desire that there were more individuals in the world like Mike.
