Mamboing his way into wedlock is now a done deal for Derek Hough. On Saturday, the ballroom pro and judge on Dancing With the Stars wed his longtime dancer love, Hayley Erbert, in Monterey County, California. Hayley Erbert is also a dancer.

According to reports from People, the pair tied the knot in front of 106 guests in a redwood grove located in the northern part of California.

“We’re in a redwood forest, but we got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” Erbert told People. “We’re in the middle of a redwood grove.” They then drop all of the seeds, which results in the planting of what is essentially an army of youngsters to guard the mother. It was a lovely act with profound significance. We’ve come here to sow the seeds for the future of our family.

The wedding weekend started on Thursday at a cliffside mansion in Carmel, California, in the state of California. On Friday evening, the wedding party and the family gathered together for a rehearsal supper in the garden. On Saturday, they exchanged personal and conventional vows, which marked the beginning of the wedding festivities. Georgina Chapman, in collaboration with Marchesa, created the one-of-a-kind duchess satin gown that Erbert wore. She completed her look with a long veil and jewels designed by Ring Concierge.

Erbert complimented her appearance by saying that it was “very just classic” and “timeless.” At the ceremony, Hough wore a suit designed by Tom Ford, and at the reception, he wore a suit designed by Brooks Brothers. Paris Jewellers was responsible for the creation of both the engagement ring that Erbert wore and the wedding rings that the couple wore together.

A reception was held for the guests in an ancient barn that was almost a century old. “Fall Into Me” by Forrest Blakk was the song that the newlyweds danced to for the first time as a pair. However, it is very unlikely that the moment was a large orchestrated performance.

Before the wedding, Hough gave an interview to People in which he said that “I think everybody’s expecting us to do a performance and a dance whole thing.” “But here’s the thing: if we put on a performance, we go out on stage, we dance, and we carry out other activities. Therefore, the fact that we are not performing makes this occasion seem even more meaningful to us. To lie on the floor together, to listen to music, and to just be present in the moment.

Mark Ballas, who also competes on Dancing With the Stars, was Hough’s co-star and acted as his best man.

Julianne Hough, the sister of the groom, was also there for the event she had been invited to. Following her breakup with Brooks Laich in May of 2020, the female Hough has not been in a meaningful relationship with anybody else, thus she went to the wedding alone herself.

Jenna Johnson, Frieda Pinto, Amy Purdy, Maria Menounos, Shawn Johnson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, Robert and Kym Herjavec, and Alfonso Ribeiro were among the other prominent people that attended the event.

Following the announcement of their engagement in June 2022, the pair finally tied the knot more than a year later in June 2023. After sharing the news on Instagram, Erbert said, “Almost 7 years down, forever to go,” in her accompanying caption.

Hough recognized it was time to propose to his girlfriend after they had been together for over a decade, and he credited Jennifer Lopez, his former co-judge on World of Dance, for providing some additional motivation.

“I remember seeing her and I was like, ‘Yo, if she can get two [engagements] within the time that I’ve been with [Erbert], I better step up my game,'” Hough said in an interview with ET, referring to Lopez’s engagements to Alex Rodriguez and Ben Affleck. Hough was referring to Lopez’s engagements to Rodriguez and Affleck.

In addition, Hough understood that referring to his other half as his “girlfriend” was no longer the most appropriate way to do so. “I sort of pulled myself together and was like, ‘This just doesn’t seem right. “I remember thinking, ‘That word is not adequate to describe what this relationship is.'” “That was a good indication that, like, ‘OK, I think it’s time to go to the next step,'” the speaker said.

When ET talked to the groom in March, he disclosed the wedding custom that he did not want to carry through on his special day.

“I really wish there wasn’t going to be a first dance at all. Because I just want to be here in this very now,” he said. “This is going to be the first dance. However, I want to make it seem less like a performance as much as I can. I want it to feel like a genuine first dance as much as possible, do you get what I mean?

They told Entertainment Tonight in February that seeing Val Chmerkovskiy and Jenna Johnson’s infant increased their baby fever, so it is probable that Hough and Erbert are already thinking about starting a family now that they are married.

“There wasn’t a rush on having kids until we just met Val and Jenna Chmerkovskiy’s baby, and that was when it was kind of like, ‘So should we get on this now?'” “There wasn’t a rush on [having kids] until we just met Val and Jenna Chmerkovskiy’s baby” Hough said this while laughing. “It did make us kind of think, ‘Why wait?'”
