Injuries caused by dog bites are something that emergency rooms see on a daily basis. Because each wound caused by a bite is different, a specialized treatment strategy is required. In this article, we will discuss the situation of a lady who, at the age of 27, was sent to the primary hospital in Vienna after suffering a face dog bite injury. It was feasible to perform the primary closure of the wound. As an antibiotic treatment, the patient was given amoxicillin–clavulanate, and owing to the lack of information on her immunization history, she was also inoculated against tetanus, polio, pertussis, and diphtheria. After 183 days had passed after the assault, both the cosmetic result and the nasal ventilation were considered to be good. According to the reconstructive ladder used for wound closure, more serious wounds may necessitate the use of skin or composite grafts, distant or local flaps, as well as microsurgical treatments. The use of anti-infective medication to treat tetanus, rabies, and other bacterial infections is another essential component of the treatment of dog bites. This case report contributes to the body of information about injuries caused by dog bites and the necessary individualized treatment strategy that involves many disciplines.
