K. Lyn Baker took the stage on America’s Got Talent in 2014 with one goal: to show that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams. At 49, the Denver, Colorado, secretary explained that while she worked a regular office job, singing made her feel unstoppable. After years of enjoying karaoke, she finally decided to take a chance and audition for one of the country’s biggest talent competitions.

For her performance, Baker chose Lady Gaga’s chart-topping hit “Bad Romance,” delivering it with confidence and high energy. Although she captivated the audience with her enthusiasm, the judges—Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel—were not won over. All four gave her a “No,” bringing her America’s Got Talent journey to an end during the audition round.

Even without advancing in the competition, Baker’s audition became one of the memorable moments of Season 9. Her courage to follow a lifelong passion resonated with many viewers, serving as a reminder that pursuing your dreams is worthwhile at any age.
